16 March 2016
The conference will address the roles, nature and consequences of accounting, audit, and control practices in extraordinary circumstances and consider how calculative technologies and assurance services cope with uncertainties and unknowns. The operation of these technologies can be seriously disrupted by crisis events with consequences for organisations, the economy and society. Important insights to the functionality of accounting practices are gained during periods of dramatic change.
Consistent with the interdisciplinary accounting research agenda, the conference will focus on the wide ranging role of accounting, audit and control in responding to crises and making sense of uncertainties. In particular, three broad contexts will be addressed: financial and corporate crises; war, natural and humanitarian disasters; and major project initiatives.
Speakers at the event include internationally recognised researchers, practitioners and policy-makers.
Attendance at the conference is free of charge, but registration is required.
